SHIPPING TERMINAL VACANCIES
 
An International Terminal Operating Company manager over 50 terminals world-wide, is commencing operation of a new terminal company in Nigeria and seeks to recruit interested and qualified professionals to fill the following positions.

SHIPPING MANAGER
 
This role involves a range of activities and responsibilities that bridge the commercial and operational activities of the shipping division of a terminal company including the supervision of multiple personnel to maximize productivity.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Ensure smooth day to day vessel operations and shipping documentation processes and procedure and maintain regular contact with customers working in berth planning, commercial and operational roles.
  • Secure berth facilities for all vessels calling at the terminal and take responsibilities for cost budget and cost control
  • Ensure optimal utilization of the terminal and terminal equipment and berth facilities
  • Analyse and monitor operational data to ensure that potential problems are averted.
  • Supervise the activities of the shipping division of the company to ensure accurate and detailed documentation and compliance with all relevant maritime industry statutory requirements in order to avoid delays and sanctions
  • Ensure the maintenance of industry safety standards and procedures
 
Qualifications and Experience
 
-                      A good first degree from a recognized university
-                      An MBA or a professional qualification is essential
-                      Minimum of 10 years experience in similar position 5 years of which should be a senior management level
-                      Must be a confident and assertive team player with good communication skills and must be familiar with the computer program associated with the industry
-                      Playing critical attention to details, he/she must have excellent financial and analytical skills
-                      Demonstrate ability to handle difficult situations that may require an element of negotiation or problem solving
-                      Proficiency in computer use and multimedia applications
-                      Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Shipping or any other relevant professional body is obligatory
 
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER
This position is responsible for maintaining information technology strategies by managing staff researching and implementing technology strategic solutions.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Recommend information technology strategies, policies and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends and anticipating requirements
  • Verify application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented
  • Direct technological research by studying organization goals, strategies practices and user projects.
  • Complete projects by coordinating resources and time-tables, with user department and data center.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
  • Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective action.
 
Qualifications and Experience
 
  • B.Sc./HND in information Technology (ICT), Computer Science or Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role within a large organization, 5 years of which should be at Senior Management level.
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of systems development methods used for the development of new systems and enhancement of existing information systems.
  • Excellence knowledge of data processing and data communications concepts and services including programming language and techniques
  • Ability to monitor computer systems, vendor-supplied packaged programs and other highly technical programs
 
SENIOR ACCOUNTANT (MARITIME)
Reporting to the financial controller, this role is responsible for the supervision of the accounting functions according to generally accepted accounting principles, established procedures, departmental guidelines and regulatory requirements applicable to the unit organization.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Day to day management of the financial and management accounting processes including payroll
  • Implement approved accounting processes, systems and controls for products and services.
  • Plan, organize and implements accounting operations and objectives coordinate and integrate all activities towards achievement of established goals and objectives.
  • Plan, manage, coordinate, and implement the year end closing processes and procedures for the assigned accounting records.
  • Liaise with the company's auditors
 
Qualification and Experience
 
  • A first degree in accounting from a reputable university
  • Master's degree will be an advantage
  • Professional accounting qualification and membership of a recognized professional body is obligatory
  • Minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience in business accounting and budge administration
  • Good knowledge of generally accepted standard accounting principles and regulatory requirements applicable in the sector is critical
  • Proficiency in computer use and multimedia applications is obligatory
 
ACCOUNTANTS
 
Same as for Senior Accountant above, but with a minimum post qualification cognate experience of five years.
