Job Title: Information Specialist​

The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos is seeking to employ a suitable and qualified candidate for the position of Information Specialist (Print) in the Public Affairs Section (PAS).

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The incumbent serves as principal media advisor/liaison to U.S. Mission Nigeria on the print media within seventeen states that comprise the consular district of the U.S. Consulate General Lagos. This position advises Mission management on appropriate  reactions/responses to media stories and is available 24/7 to coordinate urgent press matters. She/he coordinates placement of U.S. Mission Nigeria and Department of State media products with print media in the district. Serves as point of contact for and manager of print media interviews conducted with U.S Mission personnel and social media training for journalists within the consulate district.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. University degree in mass communication, political science, liberal arts or broadcast communication is required.
2. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the communications media as a journalist, editor, broadcaster or advertising executive is required.
3. Level IV (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing in English is required. Language proficiency will be tested.
4. Must have thorough knowledge of the bilateral relationships and public diplomacy themes.
5. Knowledge of current development in the media sector, including social networking and various messaging systems is required.
6. Ability to type, draft, edit, supervise and communicate effectively is required.

SELECTION PROCESS
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

Basic Function of the Position:
The incumbent will perform accounting and financial analysis to support efficient operations meeting USG accounting and procurement practices. The incumbent will assist in the implementation of the internal controls and general assessment of DoDHPN accounting standards. Duties include audit of procurement and travel vouchers, working with DoDHPN technical staff for specific programmatic activity budget preparation. Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to perform financial administrative duties.

Position Requirements:

    Minimum of 3 years progressive work experience in accounting, auditing or financially oriented business management is required.

    Ability to work with limited supervision to assess inconsistencies in financial data is required.

Job Title: Chauffeur

Basic Function of the Position

    Under the supervision of the Motor pool Supervisor/Travel Logistician, the incumbent carefully and responsibly drives an official vehicle to various locations in Abuja, and on some occasions, to other cities in Nigeria.
    Also drives DOD HPN personnel and visitors to various locations including ministries, embassies, and other businesses organizations.

Position Requirements

    Completion of Secondary School education is required.
    Minimum of (2) years previous experience as a chauffeur is required.
    Level III (good working knowledge) Speaking /Reading/Writing in English is required.

    A good knowledge of automotive operations, safety and maintenance practices is required.
    Must have a valid Nigerian driver’s license.
